Hong Kong – Fashion Powerhouse
Hong Kong's status as a fashion powerhouse is a key factor in the fair. The city has successful evolved into a generator of ideas. Backed up by technical expertise and marketing skills, this translates into strong total export figures of clothing & clothing accessories – in 2007 this was worth US$28.77 billion (HK$224.40 billion).
A total of 17,424 trade buyers from 87 countries and regions attended the Spring/Summer 2009 edition. Collectively they represented the full spectrum of the fashion business, seeking to source everything from high-fashion designer pieces to mass-market lines, encompassing women's, men's, teenagers', children's and infants' wear.

Buyers' Comments
"This is our first visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week and I think we have learned a lot.
We are particularly impressed with the hospitality services – the lounge that allows
us to have meetings and breaks, and the helpful staff - which make it much easier
for first-timers like us. As an Australia wholesaler, we rate this fair as a must-attend
from now on. It is a great way to see what suppliers and factories can produce now
and it is also very inspiring for our kind of business. The contacts we have made here
are also extremely useful and we have already placed a couple of orders."
Lesley Matson, Director, World Fashion Agency, Australia
"I come to this event regularly to source for our 300 brand name stores throughout
Canada. This is a fruitful trip for me, I have already placed orders for 100,000 pieces
of garments including T-shirts, dresses, blouses and pants, some from my regular
suppliers, and some from new companies which I have explored in the last few days. The range of products is very comprehensive here, and this time specifically, there are many nice designs from India."
Sylvain Lafrance, Director and VP of Sourcing, Marie Claire Boutiques Inc., Canada
"What makes Hong Kong Fashion Week so successful for me is the mix of exhibitors. It works for a retailer and wholesaler like me because here you can find different vendors, manufacturers and suppliers from the Chinese mainland and all over Asia under one roof. I attend Fashion Week at least once a year if not twice and I’ve been coming to Hong Kong for the last four years. I believe this fair has become one of the essential events to attend if you are in this business because Hong Kong is now an established sourcing hub for the Far East."
Mohammad Abu Tarboush, Director, Dana Est., Jordan
"This is our fourth visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week. We have seen the fair improve in terms of size, organisation and quality with each visit and we are very impressed. This fair has become compulsory attendance on our calendar each year. We must come because it provides us with such a good overview of the garment and fashion industry and we have made many useful contacts with factories and suppliers, many of whom we are now doing business with."
Margarita Escalada, Director, Esotrade, S.L., Spain
